Golden Living has over 300 “Living Centers” in 21 states across the U.S. Touted as an award winning company of long-term care, they are happy to report that dozens of their facilities have received recognition for quality care in the past decade. They offer a variety of services up to and including long-term nursing care.
Most of the 300 Golden Living Centers are in the Midwest and the eastern part of the U. S.witha few in California. The 21 states that have locations are Alabama, California, Georgia, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Maryland, Minnesota, Missouri, Mississippi, North Carolina, Nebraska, New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia and Wisconsin.
Golden Living was excited to announce that 52 of their locations received 5 star ratings in July 2012. While definitely an accomplishment, not all their locations had stellar ratings. In fact, ten of their Pennsylvania locations have 2 or lower star overall ratings. 6 of their Wisconsin locations are 2star overall ratings. 7 of their South Dakota locations have 2 or less star ratings. So despite a few having a good month, in at least three states they have many locations that are well below “average”.
Golden Living primarily is known for their Living Centers that are nursing homes or long-term care; they do have other services that they provide.
- Rehabilitation Therapy Services
- Assisted Living (16 locations)
- Hospice Care
- Home Care
Golden Living has its hands full when it comes to lawsuits. They have been part of several class action suits just recently. One in California was due to alleged understaffing of their facilities and was brought on behalf of the thousands of residents affected in a four-year period. The U.S. Department of Justice joined in a class action suit in Alabama against Golden Living for fraudulent Medicare practices. In March 2012, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission filed a lawsuit against the operators of a GoldenLivingCenter in North Carolina for unfair employment discrimination.
