The Alden Network of nursing homes has been growing since the first one was opened in 1971. There are now 44 different care sites in the Chicago area and throughout Illinois and southern Wisconsin. They run several types of facilities, from health and rehabilitation care to Alzheimer residential centers.
The Alden Network is based out of Chicago, where they have the majority of their locations in Illinois in the area surrounding Chicago and three in southern Wisconsin. The towns in Illinois that have facilities are Chicago, Des Plaines, Aurora, Rockford, Barrington, Evanston, Naperville, Orland Park, Shorewood, Skokie, Bloomingdale, Long Grove, Hoffman Estates, McHenry, Cicero, Elgin, Oak Forest and Harvey. The towns that have locations in Wisconsin are Jefferson, Fort Atkinson and Clinton.
Over 20 of The Alden Network nursing homes are Medicare/Medicaid participation facilities. However, overall their ratings leave much to be desired. The majority of their facilities have overall ratings of average or below, with several with ratings in the “much below average” 1 star rating. The Chicago, Cicero, Rockford, McHenry, Long Grove and Bloomingdale locations in Illinois all have below average ratings. However, all of the Wisconsin locations have above average ratings.
The Alden Network offers several different types of facilities along with their nursing home that participate in the Medicare and Medicaid programs. The also have facilities that specialize in:
- Memory Care Assisted Living
- Health and Rehabilitation Care
- Short-Term Orthopedic Recovery
- Independent Senior Living Community
- Developmentally Disabled
- Continuing Care Retirement Community
The Rockford, IL location was recently part of nursing home negligence lawsuit that ended going all the way to the states Supreme Court. The family of one of the Alden Park Strathmoor residents sued the facility for, “permanent and disabling injuries, resulting in loss of a normal life, disfigurement, pain, suffering and anguish” that lead to the resident’s death. The case was in dispute of the state law that does not allow for punitive damages after a residents death. The Supreme Court upheld the previous position on punitive damages.
